"Hey Bing, how's it going?"

Well, I'm feeling kind of like I want to curl up in the fetal position with someone and have them pat my hair.
And if you know me well at all, which...why are you even here if you don't, you'll probably recognize how rare that feeling overtakes me.

So kind of like that.
Or as I said on twitter: I'm like the anthropomorphic personification of a Neko Case song.

Tell me something awesome

A coworker of mine shared a friend's text, to our whole team's delight, and I feel you too will appreciate it:

A middle-aged, chubby Chinese man with a very strong accent owns a coffee shop in my hospital. I stop by on my way in for coffee every morning. Last week he said he was feeling “insane in the membrane” because all his employees called in sick. I told him I was a Cypress Hill fan. Now every morning he yells old hip hop lyrics at me in front of all my colleagues. Sometimes obscene ones.

I slept for five hours last night, which is a big deal around here lately. Less personally, I am enjoying the great conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn drawing together in the sky.

I been doing creative fannish stuff for like the first time in years! I mean, I haven't been leaving my house or concentrating on work very well, but swings and roundabouts.

The National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration maintains three aircraft specifically for flying scientific instruments and investigators into, through, and over hurricanes. The two propeller planes are Lockheed P3 Orions, with onboard research crews of 18 to 20 people each; the jet is a Gulfstream IV-SP, with an altitude ceiling of around 45,000 feet* and an onboard crew that includes flight meteorologists, which I personally think is a really bitchin' title to put on your resume.

The P3s are named Miss Piggy and Kermit. The IV-SP, because of the nonstandard shape of its nose, is named Gonzo.

These are the logos designed for them by the Jim Henson Company.

*For reference, the highest altitude at which a bird has ever been documented to fly is 37,000 feet, a Ruppell's vulture over the Atlas mountains who unfortunately was confirmed at this altitude by a very upset jet pilot after they pulled the snarge out of his engine

I forgot about Dreamwidth and now that I remember it exists I am reading older entries! And, uh, people's entire journals for 2020. So that's awesome.

Seriously though, I made some things this weekend (needlepoint and greeting cards) and it felt really nice to create.
