It begins again, as in days before.
The return of THE NEW LEAF.
Just joined a new Gym a few blocks from work. The plan is that this close proximity will get me to go a couple times during the week, no matter how cold and crap it is outside. It's literally between me and a bus home. So...there's that.
While I don't qualify for any of the discounts*, I am getting the pro-rated fee...which is something at very least. And also, the lockers are GYNORMOUS. Which is especially good considering my plan.
Speaking of this plan, here it is:
The Plan: Pre-Bike Season Edition
Yoga in the morning, before I leave for work. Ideally this will happen daily.
To go to the gym at least 2x/week.** To spend that time stretching followed by a simulation of my work commute on the stationary bike.
The Plan: Spring Bike Season Edition
As before, yoga in the morning, before I leave for work. Ideally this will happen daily.
At this point I'll be biking to work every day it isn't raining, so my cardio in the gym will be much less, and will likely include Couch to 5K elements. This will be the time I will begin to utilize the weight machines.
The Plan: Oh Dear God It's Hot Edition
Again, yoga in the morning. Daily.
Bike to gym. Shower and dress for work at gym. Work.
Weight machines as needed. Bike home. Shower again because it is summer, and summer is gross.
Sounds great, right?
Now...now I've just got to do it.
First steps, man. They're the toughest.
* I'm neither an employee of the hospital where the gym is located, nor do I have the insurance plan that would make me eligible to waive the initiation fee. Le sigh.
** The Gold Standard week would have me there four days, but I'm going to go easy and say two to start with.
