My advice to you is this...
Sep. 20th, 2012 01:07 pmDon't get a kidney infection.
They are no where near as fun as they sound.
Monday I didn't feel so great. It was nothing a handful of Advil couldn't take care of.
Tuesday I was fine for most of the day, but in the early evening I was very aware of things not being okay. When the Advil didn't work, I started to worry.
See, I thought I was just feeling another kidney stone. And I knew that if I went to the Emergency Room they were just going to send me home with instructions to drink lots of lemonade and wait for the damn thing to pass.
But when the full body shivering kicked in Tuesday night, I started to realize that avoiding the ER may no longer be an option.
I told myself that no matter what I was going to call my doctor first thing Wednesday morning. Two hours before that office opened I was in the ER. I'd spent the previous few hours shaking because I couldn't get warm, no matter how hard I tried.
They started an IV, gave me a full bag of fluids, took some samples, and three hours later I was sent home with three prescriptions. I've been on my couch pretty much ever since.
Thought I might be able to go back to work today, but when I woke up shivering again this morning that idea quickly went right out the window. One doesn't just leave the house with a 103 fever.
I am feeling much better now, as evidenced by the fact that I'm functioning enough to jump online.
So yeah! Don't get a kidney infection.
They are not fun.
