It's a week late, but...I'm still so enamored with this little kid that I just have to share my story from last week's Preliminary Election.

A few days prior to the election I found myself at a comic shop where there was a FREE TAKE! display of shiny DC Super Hero stickers. Knowing I was going to be stuck in a room for 16 hours come Election Day, I thought it'd be fun to bring some stickers without American Flags on them to give to kids and kids-at-heart.

And besides, who doesn't love Batman, Superman, Aquaman, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman in sticker form? NO ONE, that's who. So when I packed my bag of stuff to keep me occupied during the long day, I made sure to pack the stickers.

There weren't really all that many kids during the afternoon, so most of the stickers were still on hand by the time dinner rolled around. Little by little though parents brought their kids, and I started to ask them if they liked Super Heroes.

As I expected the little girls gravitated straight to Wonder Woman, and I complimented them on their taste. Wish there'd been more selection for them, I'll have to see to that for November.

The boys usually wanted to pick their own stickers off the page, and most of them put them on their shirts or bike helmets. It was adorable.

But then this little peanut of a boy came in. He couldn't have been more than three feet tall, was quiet, and pretty much clung to his mother's leg the whole time. When I did manage to make eye contact he went and hid behind his Mom. As they were leaving I crouched down to be at eye level and asked him if he wanted a sticker and got no response. So then I asked his Mom.

"Sure," she said. "But he's really really shy." As if she was apologizing for his unwillingness to engage.

That's fine, I assured her, take your pick of what I've got left.

She went for the largest sticker we had left, and out of no where this really loud voice filled the room.

"NOT THAT ONE!" he all but shouted at his Mom. It was all I could do not to burst out laughing.

"See? I told you he had a voice," his mom said with a roll of her eyes. She held the paper out to him and he chose a sticker more suitable, though I'm sad to say I don't remember which one it was.

"Where do you want it?" she asked him. Some kids said their foreheads, and most their hands or on their shirt. This kid's hand just started going lower and lower on his body making me think he wanted it somewhere in the general direction of his pants.

I got nervous.

"On your belly?" she asked. He nodded, and then lifted up his shirt to expose his stomach. His Mom, shaking her head the entire time, then put the shiny metallic sticker on his belly and then pulled his shirt down.

"Let's go show Daddy."

It was the most adorable thing I'd seen all day.
SO adorable that even after a week I felt the need to share it with all of you.
