Always a planner

I had always intended to sleep late today. Sleep late then make my way into work to get a couple of non-essential tasks completed, then I'd head to the gym to start jogging on a regular schedule again.
The problem with realizing this plan started five days ago, when night after night my sleep would be interrupted by...something. Sometimes that something had a name, and sometimes it didn't. Though I'm willing to bet the latter times had a name but that I'd forgotten it by the time I fully woke up.
Then there was the late dinner I had last night. Delicious, but...having dinner at eleven is never helpful when it comes time to sleep around one.
And of course there was the comic book I was reading at the time. The first actualfax book I've read in well over a week and I just...had to know how it ended.
Next thing I knew it was three o'clock and my brain was finally ready to sleep.
And oooh boy did it sleep. It was nice, the sleeping. Full of intriguing dreams and warm snuggly blankets. Oh and helped by freshly laundered sheets and a newly flipped mattress.
The alarm went off at the usual time, and as per my plan I ignored the everliving hell out of it. What shocked me, however, was the time on the clock when I did finally open my eyes:
12:30
Huh. Haven't done that in a good long while.
Maybe I was due for a nice good sleep in that completely bypasses the morning all together. To be honest, I've always kind of preferred days that bypass the morning. Mornings are evil, and always will be.
So instead of going into work on a holiday, instead of watching the inauguration live, instead doing anything what so ever productive with my day...I slept.
I can only hope that in the future I'll remember just how nice that sleep was so as to justify why I was in my bed as the world moved on.
