Things that are good:

- SDCC Hotel Room upgrade!
Yesterday, as I was getting ready to leave for work, I noticed an email from the SDCC Hotel people. My position in the Wait List Queue had come up and I was being offered a chance to upgrade my hotel selection from somewhere 5.5 miles away from the convention center, to somewhere 1 mile away, and at no additional cost.

In fact they were going to allow me to back out of my previous deposit.
So that's a thing that totally happened.
In equally awesome news, this new hotel is a couple of blocks from the ocean, and is one of the first stops on the shuttle route. So not only are we close to the water, but we'll be able to snag a shuttle bus that'll drop us off right at the hotel.

- Free-ish airfare!
I had enough Jetblue points to qualify for a free-ish flight to DC.
I say free-ish because there's a $6 handling fee, and I'll have to pay $20 to check a bag, but $26 is not a bad price to pay for a Jetblue flight to DC.

Which reminds me, DC People:
I'll be in town from Saturday the 16th until Tuesday the 19th of July.
There should be things!

- Free Stuff!
The people who rent the first floor of the house across the street are moving, and they're getting rid of stuff as they do so. Stuff like a coffee table and what appears to be an outdoor beverage cart of some sort.
I have absconded with both of these things. Why? Because I have a sickness, mostly.
But also because I've been dying to find some sort of a drink/bar cart thing, and here's one I won't in the slightest feel bad about leaving outside! It even comes with a bottle opening attached!

Bring on the BBQ weather!
I'm also quasi interested in seeing what it looks like cleaned up and maybe spray painted. Perhaps it could serve the same purpose indoors as well as out, thus freeing up the kitchen bookshelves for nothing but cookbooks.
Who knows?!

As for the coffee table, well...the one I actually have in the living room is now in dire need of refinishing. I'm not great at refinishing furniture, and so maybe just maybe this additional coffee table will work as either practice, or replacement, should I fuck up colossally.

- I Tried SQL!
Just finished the Code School free intro to SQL. It was equal parts fun and frustrating. Now I'm trying to decide if I want to buy a subscription to the site to continue my education. It's only like $30/month, and it honestly doesn't look like I'm going to have a whole fuck of a lot to do at my desk for the foreseeable future, so maybe it's not a bad investment?

Has anyone done this?
Was it worth it?

- Tests Are Clean
Got a call from Mom today while at work. Her latest cancer screening has come back negative.
Another sigh of relief. Four months and she'll have another one.

- Grace
My cat is a snuggle bug.
Especially a day or so after getting more sub-q fluids.
I think she's slowly drawing the connection between getting fluids and feeling better, which is better than good.

- I did not die in a Lyft last Saturday.
Which is good, because my driver decided to take a left onto the westbound side of Route 2 while we were traveling eastbound. It adventure.
Still kind of curious to see if Lyft reaches out to me, or if I should reach out to them.
It's the first time I've ever given someone a 1 star rating, and offered no tip.

- Museum
Tonight I'm get to play with a snake, make 5th graders rebuild rodent skeletons from owl pellet remains, and will likely get to play with a snake again. I love my second job.
